Abstract

Bear dancing has been found to be popular in Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, India and Pakistan. Usually the owners are very poor and are desperate for any source of profit for survival and are limited to making profit from other sources. Bulgaria was the last to use dancing bears as a source of entertainment run on after that the bears were put into a sanctuary just recently in 2007. Another incident where the dancing bears have been seen even though there is a law prohibiting the cruel act was Spain. Dancing bears are primarily controlled by a group of people called Kalandar, who come from a line of tribesmen who entertained India’s Mughal emperors with well trained animal acts. The Kalandar group was recognized by the government as a deprived group of people even though the acts to help them out of poverty have been few now wildlife programs are working to get them into another line of work for good, which would help the bears get into a sanctuary and nursed back to good health. These cruel animal acts have been mismanaged from the start and in the mid 90s WSPA which is World Society for the Protection of Animals and a Wildlife program stepped in. The reason why it has not been managed entirely is because some of these bears are owned by very powerful landlords neither the WSPA nor the wildlife program dared to get ear to the properties owned by them. The government says they can’t go and take the bears from their house because it is against the law and cannot prosecute them without seeing them bear bait or bear dance for the public. This issue has been mismanaged from the beginning and only getting worse. The bears health is continually getting worse most bears die from shock as young cubs while going through training. Bear baiting and Bear dancing started for entertainment for the common man and also for royalty back then it was innocent fun but now more and more people are recognizing it is not amusing anymore. This is not a part of their culture it is their tradition. Bear baiting and bear dancing has been used in many other countries such has England, Bulgaria and Spain. Bear baiting is not only a part of Pakistan’s and Indian’s tradition it also lies closer to home, bear hunting is a huge tradition in the United States, bear baiting is banned from 18 out of the 28 that allow bear baiting. Bear baiting was used to entertain the royalty and common folk but now it is entertaining 2,000 guests that are not aware of their actions and how they are encouraging this kind of barbarity. The tradition needs to be put to rest so that a new and much healthier tradition can be put into place. In the beginning of Bear baiting and bear dancing it was allowed in any country that wanted to entertain their people that way it was just recently when the laws were enforced. This issue is important because innocent bears for hundreds of years have been mistreated, abused and killed for entertainment. The bears are pouched as cubs and put through a training system where they take out the teeth and claws, and insert a rope inside their mouths. This sends a cub into shock or physically ill from then progressing as their job continues entertaining people who are unaware of how badly their pain is. The bears don’t dance because they enjoy it; they dance to get away from the pain. This situation is being managed somewhat but if more of the public was aware there would be a lot more progress on this issue and it wouldn’t take 4 to 10 years to help stop bear baiting and bear dancing
The laws were developed for distinction issues. Also because of the cruel nature people put the bears through some countries did not want to be apart of it because people were starting to look down upon it. This issue is being managed but not as urgently as it needs to be. Organizations are trying to take charge but it is hard to do so when the people that own the bears are very powerful in their country.

What to eat??

1) Why do people choose to eat products that are unhealthy for them? (food stuffs) 2) What roles/responsibilities does the gov't have in framing your choice? (Should they be responsible for educating us? should they be responsible for managing all products we consume? GM included, plastic chemicals - poisonous additives)

People eat unhealthy food because they live in the now, they think what doesnt kill them will make them stronger, they think whatever they eat they will work off later. Not taking into consideration that unhealthy food goes into different parts of their bodies and literally you are what you eat. Some people eat unhealthy because they are not educated enough to know what is good and what is bad. Some just don't care.

If the government say's corn is bad and gave concrete facts why everybody would believe their statement and stop eating corn. People believe the government when it comes to food. For an example a couple years ago it was said that plastic water bottles if in the sun too long can give cancer, so in result to this news we all freaked out and got tin can watter bottles. Its green, fashionable and won't give you cancer, how fancy.
Honestly it doesn't matter who teaches us about food and healthy products vs unhealthy products because anyone can lie, anyone can miseducate.
The government has more of an infulence on the population, therefore they should be responsible for teaching us.

Is it our business? Really?

This assignment is to write about our opinions on the US' role in the world. Are we some sort of benefactor or policeperson? When do we intervene and how do we do so?

Do people usually like other people to be in our business? Of course not, that is why people get in so many fights about rumors being spread and others knowing something very private about them.
The US is a very powerful country with many resources others don't. But when does lending a helping hand become too much? Has America become a nazi in other countries?
In my opinion our lending hand has become a blessing to others and for others its become medaling. I feel like we use our help for good causes but when we stick our nose into something that is clearly not our business it could be a suggestive action just to get America's name out there and letting others know how 'powerful' we are.
I feel as though we are both a benefactor and policeperson. It seems when other countries across the ocean get out of control we feel the need to be the policeman and rescue you them for two reasons, our power being known and our fear of it getting worse. Most people want world peace and when things get out of control or chaotic we freak out.
But to also point out we've sent money, people, resources, food, and our country for poverty stricken and desperate countries. When other countries are fighting with each other that is when we shouldn't stick our noses into it. But if a country is desperate and needs a helping hand out of their crisis we should do so. for peace and another greedy and power hungry reason.
In other words, we should learn what's acceptable and not and when to stop medaling and helping when help isn't needed. We are all neighbors right? Shouldn't we give the right amount of sugar or milk?

barder the flying dog

When Jake first discovered the orange turban by a gutter one day he knew right away that it was special. and indeed the second he put it on his feet started to elevate from his bedroom floor.
Since then Jake loved going on midnight adventures with barder his 8 year old german shepard.
They would start at 10 pm everynight and fly for miles. sometimes they would pick up chinese food in china or tea in england if it was chilly. nothing ever went wrong it was always smooth sailing into another world. one night jake decided they should go to Poland. As always barded started running through the neighborhood and then one at a time each paw lifted off the gravel. One hour later Jake decided this would be a great place to stop he didnt know it but his turban was very loose and moving all over his head so barder lost his control and didnt have enough balance or power to land.
jake and barder layed there in peferct position lifeless until the sunrise, when an onlooker took a pictures of the unusual scene.

The man in a red ralph lauren jacket.
His childhood was filled with country club lavish parties with father and mother. Who were particularly popular with the other rich folk in their town Hartford Connecticut. His name is Benjamin Wilflock, his middle name Bartholomule, his friends called him bart for short. Benjamin's father was a lawyer for the biggest firm in town, and needless to say, they had money. Their house was 15,000 sq. ft "but it could be bigger in the tea room" Martha, his mother would complain to her stuck up pearl wearing perfect curled hair friends. On the outside benjamin and his clean cut ralph lauren wearing parents looked perfect. Perfect lawn, perfect house, perfect china in the dining room. On the inside it always looked like a home and garden magazine. But on the inside Benjamin witnessed more than the monsters in his closet. His father had a temper, no not a temper, a real big temper. He would abuse poor complaining Martha until she was black and blue. And that is why benjamin is cheating on his wife of 22 years with his boss's young 18 year old troubled...Son.
Benjamin has been seeing Vernin or Peter, which ever you perfect for a year now. Benjamin has been fulfilling Vernin's/Peter's burning flame for months. this satisfying relationship had to end soon though. Benjamin knew it had to. People were catching on to vernin's/peter's vistis to his office for hours. but the boy would go crazy and through fits when benjamin ever brought up the slightest idea, that this wasn't a good idea. his tragic love affair is ending. Benjamin had to ride the subway to his house instead of driving, just in case someone saw his car parked in the driveway. More lines were being permanently creased on his forehead as he began to get more and more paranoid someone would catch on. Back to Benjamin's journey home he goes through a turnstile with haste running to get home, he was late. As he looked up a picture was taken of him. A Spy Martha the 2nd hired to find out why he's been late for a year now. She might be surprised another woman thats distracting her chubby grey haired husband. Will she ever find out?
